Transforming Lives Through Education

"Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it. " Marian Wright Edelman

Education is the cornerstone to success. Due to its "open door" admissions policy, any person who has the drive and determination to change his or her life through education is welcomed at Indian River State College (IRSC). Its reputation throughout Florida and the nation is one of excellence.

IRSC was named as a top-ten national finalist for the prestigious 2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation’s signature recognition of high achievement and performance among America’s community colleges. This marks the third time IRSC has been selected as a top-ten finalist. In 2017, the College advanced to the Aspen Prize Top 3 as a Finalist with Distinction.

The Aspen Prize, awarded every two years, recognizes outstanding institutions selected from more than 1,200 community and state colleges. With a singular focus on student success, the Aspen Prize assesses community colleges' achievements in four areas: student learning, certificate and degree completion, high rates of employment and earnings for graduates, and high levels of access and success for minority and low-income students.

In addition, IRSC has been rated as the 3rd most affordable college in the country and most affordable of Florida colleges according to the U.S. Department of Education’s College Affordability and Transparency Report.

The IRSC Foundation provides the margin of excellence needed to help IRSC maintain its reputation as one of the top state colleges in the nation. Gifts from generous friends and donors support IRSC through the Foundation via three key areas:
You can make a difference in the life of a student and help our community at the same time. With your support, the IRSC Foundation provides scholarships for deserving students and ensures excellence with instructional support and enhanced learning environments.

The IRSC Foundation is committed to helping students to achieve their educational dreams. This helps the students and also future generations as they become role models for siblings and their future children.
