IRSC Awarded Grant from Mexican Consulate to Establish Scholarships

IRSC Awarded Grant from Mexican Consulate to Establish Scholarships

Indian River State College was awarded a grant from the Mexican Consulate General in Miami to award scholarships to IRSC students of Mexican descent and heritage.  The $11,000 grant will be matched 100% by the Indian River State College Foundation, through private donations, to create the IME-BECAS Scholarship.

The Scholarship will be awarded to eligible students up to $1,000 based on need and can be used for tuition, books and fees.  To be eligible for the scholarship, current IRSC students must be of Mexican descent/heritage, demonstrate financial need and have a GPA of 2.25 or above. 

To apply, IRSC students should go to www.irsc.edu, log onto MyIRSC, click on apply for IRSC Scholarships, use “First Time Here” link to create password and submit the application.

Other scholarships available to the Hispanic community are the Puerto Rican Association for Hispanic Affairs (PRAFHA) Scholarship and the Treasure Coast Hispanic American Club Scholarship.  For more information, call 772-462-4786.
