Outstanding Learning Environments Prepare Tomorrow's Workforce
Advanced Workforce Training Complex

Building Regional Workforce Capacity for Today’s Demands; serving Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties

Support the Campaign

Our community's workforce is expanding rapidly along with its population.  However; job openings in the specialized career fields of Advanced Welding, Heating and Air Conditioning, Automotive Technology, Diesel Engine Repair, and additive manufacturing remain open due to a lack of qualified professionals in the industrial trades.  In fact, according to the 2017 Treasure Coast Skills Gap Study, 94% of employers in the trades and 62% of employers in manufacturing report difficulty in filling positions.  Indian River State College is addressing this need by constructing the Advanced Workforce Training Complex at IRSC's Dr. Edwin R. Massey (main) campus in Fort Pierce to expand its capacity to offer training in important industrial skills training programs.

When completed, this state-of-the-art, 70,000-square-foot facility for industrial education will be equipped with the technology and tools needed to prepare local students for high-demand, high-paying jobs in the following trades:

  • Advanced Welding
  • Automotive Technology
  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R)
  • Aviation Technology
  • Marine Technology
  • Manufacturing
